So, first I'm going to list the potential colleges/universities I want to apply to this coming fall to give an idea of what bar I have to reach.
1. Swarthmore
2. Columbia
3. University of Chicago
4. UPenn
5. Williams College
6. Carleton
7. Bowdoin
8. Trinity College
This may seem like a long list but it will shrink or stay the same, but as the numbers go down, Trinity is my safety school and Swarthmore is my dream and ideal. Those in the middle are either just dream schools or adequate enough but still challenging to enter.
With school involvement, I come from a low income high school with a low-income home. I'm hispanic, first generation that is native but with an immigrant mother. I have done reading olympics all years, worked at a fast-food restaurant for my first two years of high school, volunteered for Empty bowls in the 10th grade then volunteered at a farm in the 11th grade. I do speech & debate and theater. I also was a leader for a school movement that will now turn into a student advisory committee that is involved with school rules and the administrative body. I also was elected as Class Treasurer and picked up the job as a camp counselor and am going to volunteering at a nursing home soon. I have no awards but there has never been any availability for "awards" and if any are given, they are given at the end of my senior year. I have, however, won a $1,000 Carson scholarship in the 6th grade.
I'm just hesitant and uneasy when it comes to my standardized test scores. I have taken the ACT just once and scored a composite of 28, the breakdown:
math: 28
reading: 30
writing: 30
science: 25
I've taken the SAT twice now, with the first time being an attempt of just taking it and not trying all too hard (which was a clumsy mistake of mine) and I scored a 1670. I then took it again this past June and scored a 1790 but happened to make a clumsy mistake of forgetting the last 6 questions in the critical reading section because of my anxiety building up. I am planning on retaking it this October to at least try and score another 100 points higher, or, ideally but unlikely, a 1900. I have a 4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.33 so far weighted to my Junior year. I currently have a job and my senior year schedule consists of 4 AP classes with honors classes for the rest, with one AP class taken in Junior year.
I'd like to know if I stand a chance with my current scores and profile, and if retaking the SAT is imperative to stand a chance in the admissions office. Thank you!

Should I use my ACT score over my SAT score or test again this coming October to make it w/ ivies?
